As with previous bottlings in this series, we’ve taken a slightly different approach to achieve that end.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFor this final bottling in the Equilibrium series, we took a refill matured 1997 and sherry finished 2000, medium peated highland malt and married them together in a 2nd fill sherry hogshead. That mix was then bottled as this 22 year old with a few degrees reduction at 53%.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe result is the softest of the three Equilibrium bottlings in terms of peat level, and probably the richest in terms of sherry character. But overall, this is a wonderful, complex and beautifully quaffable sherry and peat influenced dram, one where age and time have also worked some pretty delicious tricks...\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt tastes like spooning a kipper inside a grandfather clock full of expensive cigars.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt also tastes like Gaelic Crabs, sheep philosophy and the inarticulable suspicion that there must be something more to life....\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eAbout Ardmore\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAdam Teacher, son of Glasgow Blender William Teacher, decided it was time his family had their own malt whisky distillery and so built Ardmore Distillery in 1898. Not long after, Ardmore became a limited company and expanded its stills from two to eight stills in total. Around 600 ft above sea level sits the Ardmore Distillery, at the highest point of the Northern railway line in the Highlands of Scotland. This allowed for the founder, Adam Teacher, to easily transport materials from Glasgow to the rather remote location, allowing the distillery to thrive. Ardmore was sold to Beam Suntory in 2006 before becoming part of Beam Suntory’s world whisky portfolio including names such as Japanese Distilleries Yamazaki and Hibiki. Still to this day, the water source is from the naturally rising springs that are situated on the 1,500 ft Knockandy Hill.
