Well, here's your second of three chances in this unholy trinity of releases.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eChapter II was created from 27 casks by Master Distiller James MacTaggart, 17 Sherry casks, 6 unpeated bourbon casks and 4 peated bourbon casks with vintages ranging from 1997 to 2004.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAlthough the Isle of Arran was once a hot-bed of distilling activity, there were no distilleries on the island for the majority of the 19th and 20th centuries. Isle of Arran Distillers opened their first distillery in 1995, and it quickly became a firm favourite. They bottled its first single malt in 1998, a limited edition 3 year old in a glass decanter. The distillery also produced a peated single malt called Machrie Moor, however an experimental second distillery on the other side of the island, called Lagg, is now the site of all the company’s peated production. As of 2019, the distillery was renamed Lochranza, however its single malt brand is still known by the old name, Arran.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eReleased in 2013, Arran’s second edition release in the very popular punch bowl series consists of 27 casks distilled between 1997 and 2004; 17 of which are sherry casks, 6 ‘unpeated’ bourbon casks and 4 peated bourbon casks.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eKnown as the Angels and Devils edition, only 6,660 bottles were released.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eTasting Notes\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNose : Dried fruit and wood spices with notes of mocha and tobacco leaf.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePalate : Vanilla, mixed nuts, juicy prunes, dried papaya and chocolate liqueurs.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFinish : Caramel, cocoa and earthy winter spices.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eAbout Arran\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe Isle of Arran has played host to many distilleries, mostly illicit and the last legal distillery closed in 1835. What is surprising is that it took until 1995 for a still to run again as the Arran distillery at Lochranza came online. Financed mostly by Harold Currie who had retired from Chivas, the team also sought investment from 2000 investors who gave up £450 for a share of future whiskies. Many of whom turned up for the official opening, including a descendent of the last person to be killed on Arran for distilling illegally. Since the initial days, Arran distillery has prospered thanks to an array of cask types and special editions. The whisky, in time, has come of age and growing demand meant an expansion in 2017, with a new pair of stills.
