Aberfeldy 25 Year Old 125th Anniversary 70cl
In 1898, Aberfeldy first began distilling golden Highland Scotch whisky. To mark its 125th anniversary, the brand has bottled this 25 Year Old single malt, rested for over two decades before it was finished in oloroso sherry casks. A fitting tribute to a fine distillery.
We are celebrating 125 years of the Aberfeldy Distillery. In 1898, we first began distilling our renowned liquid. To mark this occasion, we have bottled this 25 Year Old Single Malt as a testament to our pioneering spirit and distilling heritage.
Laid to rest in our warehouse for over two decades, the beautifully aged whisky has been finished in Oloroso sherry casks to augment its rich and fruity character and bestow a delightful spiced note.
The aroma of the whisky is rich and succulent with Highland honey, wild strawberries, and ripe peaches warmed by the sun, developing further with cocoa powder, creamy caramel and a spicy cinnamon finish.
Tasting notes from our Operations Manager, Jonathan Wilson: This is the biggest, richest, boldest expression of Aberfeldy that I have ever tried. It is like sitting in a comfy chair in the middle of an exotic food market, surrounded by all manner of fruits and spices, with subtle hints of leather and tobacco in the background. The complexity and intensity are a joy to behold and should be savoured over some time.
ABERFEDLY BACKGROUND
Aberfeldy is the only distillery built by the Dewar family. Initially intended as an ingredient for their Blended Scotch, our team of 12 operators craft a Single Malt with fruity and honeyed aromas.
Aberfeldy is known as The Golden Dram due to the alluvial gold that is rumoured to lie in our water source, the Pitilie Burn. We use 7.5 tons of lightly malted barley per batch and allow a gentle fermentation over 70 hours to give plenty of time for sweet, fruity flavour development. Our tall stills are heated slowly for plenty of copper contact to retain these bright flavours.
Aberfeldy is usually matured in a range of cask types giving complexity. This whisky also has approachable orange and honey flavours when young and over time subtle floral and spiced aromas can emerge. Look out for interesting finishes such as Madeira or red wine that complement our house style perfectly.
