Splendidly sherried single malt from Balvenie! This one spent the final part of its 18-year maturation finishing in Pedro Ximénez sherry butts, and is now ready to take pride of place in a special collection.
The Balvenie is a distillery with a rich history of experimentation with sherry-cask maturation. Here, they’ve used a Pedro Ximénez sherry butts to finish off an eighteen-year-old whisky. It’s the second sherry-finished expression in this range.

TASTING NOTES

Nose
Almond butter and toasted orange peel, Jaffa biscuits, dried apricots, prunes, raisins and spicy wood. The finish in PX Sherry Casks is not intrusive, almost subtle. -
Taste
Creamy start, slightly tingling on the tongue. Tart orange marmalade with pieces of the peel, almonds, walnuts, cocoa powder, dark chocolate, nougat and cold coffee. Apricot kernels, multivitamin tablet, gooseberry. dry wood. - Medium length, now very spicy, still slightly tingling. It has traded its initial creaminess for dry wood somewhere towards the end of the flavor.
