The Black Rock was originally a travel retail exclusive Bowmore, released to the market in 2014. The larger proportion of European sherry oak casks in the make-up of this bottling strikes a great balance between smoke and rich, jammy fruits - a combination that has found a home in the heart of many a peat-head.

Looking out the windows of the Bowmore distillery, you can see the rock 'Black Rock' in the distance. It gave the bottling its name. The Black Edition was matured for the most part in Spanish sherry casks. It is a delicious balance of peat smoke, treacle toffee and orange from first sip to last. On the eye dark amber. Breathe in smoke infused with raisins, pepper, warm cocoa beans and burnt orange. Sip rich sherry and peat smoke followed by blackcurrant treacle toffee and cinnamon spice. Savour beautifully balanced peat smoke and sea salt.

TASTING NOTES

Appearance: Clear, Coppery Amber

Aroma: Apple Wood smoke, pencil graphite/tar, new leather and honey with earthly mocha coffee, dark cherry chocolate and orange

Palette: Light peat smoke, vanilla oak, sherry and mild cinnamon spice

Finish: Vanilla, Peat smoke sea salt and a sherried peaty dram.
