Paying tribute to this mighty Kingdom, this exceptional blend is fully finished in virgin Scottish Oak casks, a first for Royal Salute. Felled from a single forest in the heart of Scotland, the rare-wood of these casks brings distinctive toasted flavours to the sweetness of the Royal Salute blend.
The bottle features a deep, elegant, lake-like Scottish green, a nod to Scotland’s lush oak forests. Sandy Hyslop, head bartender at Royal Salute, said: “Royal Salute for the first time used the technique of barrel-maturation of new Scottish oak barrels, which not only made the flavor layout of Royal Salute’s vintage series more complete but also used different oak barrels to present the diversified style of wine, even in the vintage whisky wine style, which also became a trend.”
The Scottish oaks are rare and distinct toasted flavours to the characteristically sweet Royal Salute blend… Which you’ll taste especially on its long, rich finish. On the nose, you’ll get a whiff of sweetness, nuttiness and soft spices; with notes of plums and red apples on the palate.
Tasting notes
A melody of sweet fruits and liquorice is followed by the rich, nutty flavours of toasted oak and lingering soft spices.
PALATE
Ripe orchard fruit flavours of red apple and sweet plum are expertly balanced by warm toasted oak to create an extraordinary depth of flavour.
Long, rich and oaky.
