Fuller's Vintage Ale 1997 The Oldest Vintage Ale in Existence Aged Champion Ale 550ml
This is your chance to get one of the the last bottles of the first ever Vintage Ale release.
The oldest beer that can be drunk in existence sits with us. We have but 3 bottles of this amazing ale. This is our office favourite aside from their more junior Golden Ale.
Vintage Ale, is designed to be aged & is bottled at a slightly higher percentage. Correct storage maintains this beer's character albeit, sediment will build up throughout this bottle's life. These bottles were stored in the warehouses of Fuller's for 26 years before being sold on and now we have them in our warehouse.
Brewed in May 1997 and bottled in July 1997. Dark in appearance, the taste is almost brandy like with a hint of fruitiness in the aroma. Dates, Raisins, Chocolate, Figs, Hints of Cinnamon can be detected in the palate.
Here is the story about Vintage Ale made by The Craft Beer Channel
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CONSUMPTION
1. Refrigerate for one day prior with the bottle upright
2. Handle the bottle with car with minimal movement. Do NOT shake or stir around
3. Remove cap gently and slowly. Allow for the beer to stand for a minute.
4. Slowly pour the beer out into a goblet or preferred drinking glass continuing until the entire contents have been poured out (550ml). Should pouring stop half way, then the bottle should be left to stand for a few minutes due to sediment shake up.
5. A filter can also be used to take extra precaution
6. Enjoy what is the oldest beer around that can be tasted and tastes good!
8.5% ABV
550ml
We have been drinking them since 2012 and becoming aware of vintage ale and the flavour is mostly dark hops, dates, raisins, sherry, cola and just general ruby goodness. I would recommend using a wine filter to pour this slowly into a glass and you should checkout our YouTube channel for drinking tips for this as we dare to try one of these legendary beers that once they are gone, we will never have this opportunity again for the oldest beer made at Fuller's brewery that was meant to be aged and drunk.
Please note, due to the age of the product we can't guarantee that the box will be in perfect condition. Due to licencing legislation, this beer has BEST BEFORE date of end 2000. However, this is a bottled conditioned beer that is designed to age.
