Glen Ord 12 Year Old 2007 SMWS Single Cask 77.66 Fluttering Fan-Waft Of Fruit (2019) 70cl
1 of 219 bottles made.
This Glen Ord was distilled in August 2007 and matured in a single re-charred hogshead for 12 years. Bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. We do not often get to see Glen Ord Single casks out in the wild and they are pretty rare.
Glen Ord is a well-respected distillery, sought after as a single malt and by blenders alike. The distillery operates its own in-house maltings, which supply all of Diageo's northern distilleries, as well as Talisker and occasionally heavily-peated malt for the Islay sites. Glen Ord was first officially bottled as a single malt in the 1980s, but has had a bounty of different names over the years; Glen Ord, Glenordie, Ordie, Ord, and Muir of Ord. It is currently part of the Singleton stable.
TASTING NOTES
A complex nose of jasmine, hibiscus flowers, refreshers, delicate waxiness and a fluttering fan-waft of fruity aromas – dried mango, peaches, raspberry and Kir Royale. It had a fruity palate too – strawberry, cherry, redcurrants, pomegranate, lemon and young calvados – plus wild flowers and gorse, wood and tobacco
