A fantastic Virgin Oak Single Cask release from Glenallachie limited to 272 bottles exclusively for the UK
We don't get enough Virgin Oak so this is a complex dram that is more akin to bourbon notes than using other casks. Billy Walker has recently enjoyed experimenting with various types of Virgin Oak, regularly monitoring the casks writhing GlenAllachie on-site warehouses, observing the interaction between the wood and the spirit.

The fourth batch of UK-exclusive single casks, each demonstrating the unique interaction of the wood, spirit, and subsequent flavour extension.

Built in 1891, Glenallachie did not begin production until 1898. The whisky from this distillery initially was destined for the White Horse blend, but since Bacardi's takeover in 1998, the majority of its output now heads for the Dewar's range. The Glenallachie distillery was bought and mothballed by Invergordon Distillers in 1985. In 2017, Billy Walker, Graham Stevenson, and Trisha Savage bought the distillery as the Glenallachie Distillers Company Limited.

Fresh spring and snow water from Ben Rinnes and peated malts are used in the distillation process.

TASTING NOTES

COLOUR: Sunset Bronze.

NOSE: Vanilla, plantains and apricots, with orange peel, ginger and nutmeg.

TASTE: Layers of heather honey, treacle and figs, with orange zest, cinnamon and nutmeg.
