Time spent in Premier Cru red wine barriques from Bordeaux, has imparted complex aromas of espresso, marasca cherry and heather on the nose, followed by notes of ginger, truffle and hints of minerality on the palate.

Master Distiller Billy Walker then expertly guides the whisky through a transformative maturation process in select French oak barriques from one of Bordeaux's esteemed Premier Cru Classé chateaux. These barriques, a pinnacle of wine excellence, are carefully chosen from the top echelon of Bordeaux's world-famous wine region. Renowned for producing wines with unparalleled quality and depth, these Premier Cru Classé estates impart their legacy into the GlenAllachie spirit. Over two years in these prestigious casks, the whisky evolves, embracing a unique character that blends the robustness of American oak with the refined elegance of French viticulture. Tasting this GlenAllachie release is an exploration of complexity and harmony. To craft The GlenAllachie Wine Series, expertly matured our spirit in American oak ex-Bourbon barrels. Subsequently, the whisky underwent additional maturation for over two years in wine barriques skilfully sourced by Master Distiller Billy Walker, imparting a distinctive twist onto the GlenAllachie spirit. Factors such as the oak species, level of toasting, and coopering of the cask each leave a unique mark on the slumbering spirit. The oak itself was previously influenced by the grape variety and terroir of the winery from which we sourced these barriques; thus, the wood adds distinctive layers of complexity, depth and charm. These particular French oak barriques were procured from one of just five Premier Cru Classé chateaux located in the world-renowned wine region of Bordeaux, France. Top of the official Bordeaux wine classification, these estates are considered to produce wines of the highest quality and flavour. Maturation in casks which previously held such full-bodied red wine has imbibed our honeyed spirit with deep notes of black cherry and smooth espresso. The resulting golden malt delivers a truly refined yet complex drinking experience.
