Glenfarclas 27 Year Old 1988 Single Cask #6984 70cl
Similar to Family Casks in being a single cask with a number not far off from what was marketed as Family albeit sent abroad after bottling.
A rare example of a single cask of Glenfarclas. Only 20 casks down at the same time of being aged for 27/28 years old are the casks beginning with 7005 being the Family from 1988.
Although not stated, the colouring since they only use natural and no additives suggests a Sherry Butt just like similar 1988 FCs.
One of the oldest distilleries within Speyside, and still in family hands since it was founded, the Glenfarclas Distillery is one of Speyside's independent whisky producers. The Grant family has been running Glenfarclas since 1860, producing an individual Speyside malt that many whisky enthusiasts number as one of their favourites. With its Direct-fired Stills, and melt water from the slopes of Ben Rinnes which runs through granite and heather before reaching Glenfarclas. (meaning 'the valley of green grass') Glenfarclas is one of the last remaining distilleries with direct-fired stills. With a long history of bottlings stretching back to the early 20th Century, both proprietary and independent bottlings are very much sought-after.
