Glenglassaugh 12 Year Old (2023) 70cl
Matured in Bourbon, Sherry and Red Wine Casks, we invite you to experience the beautiful deep golden colour of Glenglassaugh 12 Year Old Single Malt Whisky in the glass before being captivated by the nose which is a delightful blend of ripe apricot, toasted vanilla, and tropical flora, carried on a warm ocean breeze. The taste is a luxurious combination of candied pistachio, date, and sweet fig, infused with fresh coastal air.
A milestone moment for the Glenglassaugh distillery, which fired its stills back up in 2008 after over two decades of silence. After that reawakening, a growing stash of single malt has been patiently maturing in the distillery's coastal warehouses, under the watchful eye of master blender Rachel Barrie. 2023 sees the launch of this brand new flagship 12-year-old single malt. Drawn from a selection of bourbon, sherry, and red wine casks, it's layered with soft stone fruits, toasted vanilla, softly salted chocolate, and sweet, nutty meringue.
Glenglassaugh
The story of this luscious single malt begins in the Glassaugh spring, located on Durne Hill, overlooking the distillery. This clean, pure source of mineral-rich spring water influences the sweet, tropical taste of every Glenglassaugh expression.
As this water passes through production, the distillery opens up to nature with the lush scent of yellow gorse filling the still house air. From a signature crack of sea salt to tropical flora, the distinct tasting notes of Glenglassaugh single malt can be found in the elements which surround the distillery.
Following distillation, Glenglassaugh matures in the coastal warehouses, deeply nourished by the north sea air. This process helps develop a harmonious balance between the lush, ripe new make spirit and the sweetness of oak casks, all finished with a signature crack of sea salt.
Mineral-rich water, microflora and the North Sea air, three subtle influences which come together to make Glenglassaugh coastal malt whisky.
Nose Brimming with apricot, fig rolls, candied nuts, and waves of sea breeze.
Palate That sweet stone fruit continues on the palate, with toasty notes of vanilla, and creamy hazelnut meringues.
Finish Softly salted cherry chocolate, and a lingering nuttiness with candied pistachio, and a delicious reminder of Daim bars.
