Knob Creek 9 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 100 Proof US Import 1 Litre
When it comes to making Knob Creek Bourbon, there's a lot of waiting but hardly any sitting around. While each barrel patiently ages in white oak, our distillers continue to raise the standards, fulfilling their commitment to full flavor. The result? An unflinching balance of deep, pre-Prohibition-style bourbon with a robust oak taste, complemented with hints of smooth vanilla and layered caramel.
A nine-year-old high-rye bourbon from Knob Creek that was relaunched in 2021 with a brand new presentation and the return of the age statement. Aromas of toasted nuts, sweet cereals and oak spice fill the nose, complemented by notes of ripe fruit on the palate.
Like Booker’s, Beam does not chill-filter Knob Creek, so the whiskey has all of its inherent oils, adding to the texture and flavor of the Bourbon. It’s one of the richest and most decadent expressions in the company’s portfolio with caramel and sweet baking spices on the finish.
Knob Creek Small Batch Bourbon has been a mainstay of the Jim Beam family of Small Batch bourbons since the early 1990’s. Chances are high that every bourbon enthusiast has had a sip of this bottle at some point in their life.
It’s so ubiquitous in the scene that Jim Beam has elected not to really change much about it for fear of ruining its reputation. It still uses roughly the same bottle shape, bottling proof and age (more or less) throughout those 30+ years.
TASTING NOTES (courtesy of Breaking Bourbon)
A slight nuttienes wafts out of the glass to kick things off. Inhaling deeper presents notes of vanilla, light oak, and a dab of caramel. A hint of char and a dab of fresh marshmallows round things out. It’s an enjoyable way to start off the sip.
The pleasantness of the nose carries over to the palate. Rich oak builds a base, and is layered with green peppercorns, dabs of well balanced sweet vanilla, and lightly toasted caramel. It presents a lighter mouthfeel which is suiting to the overall lightness of the flavors present. Much like the no age statement (NAS) small batch, the flavors present are good and easily enjoyable.
The finish is all business: aged oak, vanilla, and leather jump out front and are followed by a dash of black pepper and rye spice. A lingering oak and warming spice help to round things out. It's a simple, yet enjoyable way to end, and helps cap off the sip nicely
