Laphroaig 10 Year Old Cask Strength Batch #9 (2017) 70cl
The 2017 bottling of Laphroaig's annually released cask strength 10-year-old whisky – this is batch #9. Hard to find outside of the distillery, these whiskies are rightfully critically acclaimed, offering a punchy and intense take of the 10-year-old's medicinal and maritime character.
Laphroaig is one of the heavier contenders on the Islay scene. More iodine and medicinal which is divine if you like this stuff. Once you do, then you have pretty much completed whisky in terms of flavour profiles because if you like this, then you will pretty much like most other things or at least be able to drink them.
The Cask Strength is one of the more popular series as it gives more punch for the strong flavour. It is a preference thing but the further back you go with Laphroaig, the more the older distillation techniques and barley from soil that was older too, is tasted. Whilst consistent in distillation, there are small differences that can be picked up if you are further into your journey.
