MacPhail's 30 Year Old - Gordon & MacPhail (2024) 70cl
In 2010, Gordon & MacPhail released a 70-year-old Mortlach, one of the oldest whiskies ever bottled. Gordon & MacPhail has a tradition of laying down casks for long-term maturation, some of which span several decades. They are one of the few independent bottlers who can afford to keep a whisky’s origin a closely guarded secret without scaring the horses.
MacPhail’s 30 Year Old is a Speyside single malt from a secret distillery, produced to their exact specifications. We can assume that it’s been aged in sherry casks due to a noticeable sweet sherry influence.
The distillery of origin of this exceptional Single Malt is a closely guarded secret. The casks were produced to Gordon & MacPhail's exact specifications. Delivering a complex, rich and elegant Whisky with sweet sherry influences ‐ and an intriguing air of mystery. Could be Macallan, Could be Glenrothes, Could be Tamdhu.... upon tasting it might be obvious but we are not permitted to even write our guess. The aforementioned distilleries exist in Speyside.
It has notes of stewed fruits, apples, roasted nuts, chocolate, honeycomb, dried apricot, blackberry, raspberry, tangerine, oak, menthol and coca.
