The older the Macallan the better it seemed to have been for many.... older distillation methods had a DIFFERENT taste but not better nor worse. Just different.

A staple part of the distillery’s core range, the extremely accessible Macallan 10-Year-Old Sherry Oak would have introduced many a newcomer to the wonderful world of whisky. Sadly, it was discontinued in 2013 to make way for the non-age-statement 1824 series. As a result, the once humble 10-Year-Old has gone on to become highly sought after on the second-hand market.

We estimate this older style Macallan was bottled circa 1990’s.

When Macallan assumed the responsibility for their own bottlings from Campbell, Hope & King in 1980, they inherited both an 8 and 12 year old age-statement release, quickly adding a new 10 year old into the mix as well. The 10 year old was a popular edition for many years, but was eventually discontinued in 2013.
