The Nikka Gold & Gold Samurai Whisky is produced in the Yoichi Distillery. The distillery was founded by Masataka Taketsuru. When Taketsuru travelled through Scotland, he was fascinated by the production. His aim was to produce Japanese whiskies himself and so he founded his first distillery in 1934. In thought of the samurai warriors the Nikka Gold & Gold Samurai Whisky was created.. The bottle is eye-catching and equipped with a metal samurai armour.

Nikka Whisky Samurai Limited Edition is a unique blend of scotch and whisky, Nikka Gold & Gold Samurai, a Japanese Nikka blend whisky from the Yoichi distillery.

This eye-catching package consists of a presentation box, Nikka Gold & Gold Blended Whisky (43%, 750ml), decorative armour and shield and a samurai suit. From The Barrel's square glass bottle and minimalist label comes Nikka Whisky Gold & Gold, also known as "G & G" Samurai Blended Whisky in this exceptionally crafted armour.

It was Masataka Taketsuru who laid the foundation for Japanese whisky. He traveled to Scotland in 1918 and learned the art of whisky making there. He realized that Japan's geographical location and climatic conditions were similar to those in Scotland and determinedly pursued his idea of a Japanese whisky industry. After his return, he worked in a small distillery until 1934, from which today's Suntory emerged. Since he wanted to release his own whiskys, he began building the Yoichi distillery, which is now the headquarters of Nikka Whisky Distilling Co. Ltd. is. The first whisky flowed there in 1940 and the second distillery, the Miyagikyo distillery, was built in 1969. In addition, the Ben Nevis distillery in Scotland was bought in 1989 in order to acquire market share and knowledge there too. The Asahi company acquired shares in Nikka back in 1954 and today Nikka is a subsidiary of this huge brewery group. In its two Japanese distilleries, Nikka produces various single malts such as Yoichi or Miyagikyo but also a lot of blended whiskies such as “From the Barrel” or “Tailored”. Unlike in Scotland, for the Japanese it is not the single malt, but the blend that represents the perfection of whisky production. Japanese blended whiskies are not just made, they are composed. Over a long period of time and various selection processes, the master blenders here create blends that are unparalleled in the world and are highly respected among whisky connoisseurs.

TASTING NOTES

Aroma: Floral and fruity, with apples and some yuzu. There is also a hint of spice, pepper and traces of liquorice.

Taste: Full-bodied and round on the tongue. The sweetness of honey is accompanied by heather. Behind it is vanilla and a hint of coconut as well as spicy oak.

Finish: Medium long and spicy sweet. Dark fruits and oak appear again.
