North of Scotland 40 Year Old Director's Cut 1973 (Lost Distillery) Douglas Laing 70cl

1 of only 69 bottles!

This incredibly rare 40 year old Lowland single grain was produced at the North of Scotland distillery in October 1973 and bottled by Douglas Laing & Co. for their Executive Decision range (the name for their Director's Cut series, outside of Europe) in March 2014.

North of Scotland distillery was founded in 1958, for the first few years it produced both grain and malt whiskies before deciding to concentrate solely on the grain side of things. There has never been an official distillery bottling of NOS, though there have been a handful of indie releases over the years. The distillery closed in 1980, before the equipment was dismantled and sold off in 1993.

Drawn from cask number 10232 at a natural strength 47.9% ABV, this limited release is one of a paltry 69 bottles that comes with original timber presentation case and COA.

TASTING NOTES

NOSE: Opens with butterscotch and warming spices (cinnamon) on the nose then runs to a toasted coconut style.

PALATE: Deliciously sweet - caramel on rich vanilla ice cream - and runs to sweet mocha.

FINISH: Very more-ish - still sweet and carries a late tobacco quality. (J)

47.9% ABV

70cl
