Tomintoul 1994 25 Year Old Single Cask Sherry Butt (2020) 70cl
1 of 681 bottles. Interestingly enough a lot of them were not put up for sale.
Tomintoul Whisky has a great deal of character being tastes closer to the purest form it can be. With a huge focus on maturation, the single casks varieties of Angus Dundee Distillers do not disappoint one bit.
A 1994 vintage single malt from Tomintoul, matured in a single sherry butt for a quarter of a century before being bottled in January 2020. Aromas of caramel, plums, vanilla custard and brambles fill the nose, complemented by notes of walnuts, nougat, cherries, prunes, caramel and raisins throughout the palate.
TASTING NOTES
Nose
Deep, oaky. Damp warehouse. Earthy. A sweet note in the back. Vanilla toffee. Ground coriander. Sherried. Dark chocolate, touch of ground coffee.
Palate
Sweet at start then getting fizzy on the tongue. But alcohol is under control. Cider apple, ginger ale. Amazing, oak is more present on the nose than on the palate.
Finish
Dry, spicy with a sweet aftertaste. Toffee apple maybe.
