Tomintoul Amarone Wine Cask Finish (2024) 70cl

Released in July 2024 comes the new range of expertly finished ex-bourbon cask delights from Tomintoul. Known for being the "gentle dram" however these new cask finishes display a boatload of character for a lower end price.

The Master Distiller Robert Fleming's family has been making whisky in the Speyside region for four generations so far. A lot of fantastic editions are etched into the legacy. Tomintoul is relatively new in contrast to the Glencadam side of the business for Angus Dundee Distillers. A brand who do not speak the loudest but produce high quality whisky resting in the knowledge that their base picks up slowly and surely without sucombing to mass marketing.

This small batch bottling of Tomintoul has been created by specially selecting Tomintoul aged in exceptional ex-bourbon American oak barrels, which are then married and finished in hand selected Amarone wine battels sourced from Italia. This process of "finishing" creates a beautifully rich, complex and full flavoured single malt

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Inviting aromas of cherry crumble, sultanas and baking spices with hints of oatmeal flapjacks and cocoa

Palate: Layers of summer fruit pudding, raspberry coulis, ginger biscuits and salted caramel with creamy panna cotta & cedar spices

Finish: Warming with impressions of honey, raisings and pink peppercorn, leaving longer lingering notes of chocolate and cherry liqueurs on the tongue
