The slowing down of time. the realisation that we have patience. This is Golden Promise Yamazaki. Sometimes... a whisky can teach you something and you did not even realise you learned it!

Part of the 2024 Tsukuriwake series, this Yamazaki was made using exceptional Golden Promise barley, the grain behind many of the finest Scotch whiskies of the 1960s and 70s. This richly textured single malt was distilled in 2009 and aged in American oak casks, resulting in aromas of orange marmalade, custard creams, and toasted malt, complemented by the distillery’s hallmark notes of pineapple and citrus.

Central to the complexity and richness of Yamazaki whiskies is a unique Japanese style of making whisky. It’s called ‘Tsukuriwake,’ which means ‘variety in production’ – the distillery creates a wide range of different whisky styles within a single distillery. Here we have variety in the barley type used.

Yamazaki used Promise Barley, an exceptional grain variety, first grown in Scotland in the 1960s, giving a malty and rich Yamazaki.

Yamazaki Golden Promise is a Japanese single malt, distilled in 2009 and matured in American oak casks.

It has notes of orange marmalade, custard, sweet malt, vanilla and honey.

It comes at a strength of 48% ABV and is a lovely barley gold colour.

This is a sweet, fruity and rich whisky.
