Yellowstone Single Barrel #9535 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 70cl
This Single Barrel Kentucky will appeal to those who are a fan of Stagg, Wild Turkey Masters, Woodford Reserve Single Barrel Selects & a rich experience.
Yellowstone is a current up and comer in the world of bourbon and slowly garnering more and more attention. The taste is the principle asset of their mash bill results after maturation.
A limited-edition single barrel bourbon, produced at the newly-opened Limestone Branch Distillery in Lebanon, Kentucky, from a barrel hand-selected by the German whisky importer Perola. The bourbon was distilled in November 2016 and matured in bourbon cask #7415577 for 4 years. It was bottled in 2021 at 115 proof. The historic Yellowstone brand was created in the 1870s by J.B. Dant at the Gethsemane Distillery. Yellowstone was distilled at Heaven Hill for a while, and has been produced at the new Limestone Branch Distillery since 2015. The distillery was founded by Steve and Paul Beam, descendants of both Jim Beam and J.W. Dant. Only 240 bottles of Yellowstone Single Barrel Hand Picked Collection have been released.
Mash Bill: Combination of two high-rye bourbons – one aged 4 years and another aged 7 years
Nose: Buttery brown sugar and caramel, vanilla, rich toasted oak, cinnamon, baking spice, rye spice, and a hint of cinnamon apple
Palate: Heavy caramel and oak flavors that blast your taste buds on first sip. You then get a nice rush of baking spice, brown sugar, rye spice, pepper, and earthy, herbal flavors
Finish: Long heavy finish with lots of heat – leaves you with a rich mouthfeel full of heavy oak, brown sugar, and spicy rye spices and pepper
The President and Distiller of Yellowstone Bourbon’s name is Stephen B. Beam. He is often asked whether he is related to Jim Beam and he actually is!
Minor Case Beam was Jim Beam’s nephew and Steve and Paul Beam’s grandfather.
I’m a fan of this quote from Stephen Beam since I’m from the state of Pennsylvania:
“Growing up with that name [Beam] in Kentucky could be like growing up with the Hershey name in Pennsylvania. It was kind of hard to avoid the connections early on”
Of course, he got himself into the whiskey business and this beautiful bottle of Yellowstone Single Barrel whiskey is the result.
I’m new to the Yellowstone brand so I’m excited to give this bottle a shot.
