Yamazaki Suntory Custom Japanese Blended Whisky (1960s) 72cl
A 1960s blend of Yamazaki and other whiskies. In the 1970s, Suntory moved its grain production to its distillery now named Chita.
A lot of the older blends contained older Japanese whiskies than 12 years or what they felt tasted better at time of blending and bottling so some of the older stuff is very surprising in terms of its complexity and taste.
The blend contains malt and grain whiskies, bottled at 84 proof (42% ABV).
TASTING NOTES
It features a smooth and soft profile with notes of cream, vanilla, apple pastry, cherry, and a short finish of cinnamon, melon, pineapple, and vanilla. This whisky is particularly noted for its historical significance, as it was released in the 1960s, reflecting the craftsmanship of Suntory during a pivotal era for Japanese whisky.
