Yamazakura whisky is crafted by the Sasanokawa Shuzo Co., Ltd., a prominent Japanese spirits producer with a rich heritage dating back to 1765. Originally established as a sake brewery in Fukushima Prefecture, Sasanokawa Shuzo expanded its operations to include whisky production in the 1940s. The company's commitment to quality and meticulous blending techniques has positioned Yamazakura as a respected name in Japanese whisky.

Asaka distillery is located in the Koriyama plain in Japan. "Yama" means "mountains" and "zakura" stands for "sakura" meaning "cherry trees", as a tribute to the Tohoku area (where the distillery stands), mainly known for its blooming trees.
