About Tantallon 

This anonymous Highland single malt whisky is named after Scotland’s last great medieval castles.

Named after the 14th century Tantallon Castle in Berwick on the Firth of Forth, Tantallan (note the spelling difference) is a Highland single malt whisky from an anonymous distillery.

Numerous expressions have been released over the years since it first appeared as a 13-year-old vintage distilled in 1979, including the flagship 10-year-old.

Exported primarily to European markets, particularly Italy, Tantallan is currently unavailable pending a rebrand.

Tantallon Castle, known as Scotland’s ‘last great medieval castle’ was built in the mid-1300s by William Douglas, who was made Earl of Douglas in 1358. The castle became the stronghold for the Douglas clan, and was attacked by the crown several times until being abandoned in 1651 following a heavy attack by Oliver Cromwell.

In 1992 Tantallan single malt became one of the first brands launched by Vintage Malt Whisky Co. Ltd, which was established in the same year.
